The murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor are horrific reminders that hundreds of years of racist practices continue to harm and create suffering for Black people and people of color in this country.  We support the Black community, Black Lives Matter, and all anti-racist efforts.

Each of us has a role to play in the improvements that are long overdue.  We believe that education must change, and we will continue to support schools and districts that are shifting to learner-centered education.  At the heart of learner-centered education is an acknowledgment that every student is unique and capable.  By shifting away from a model that prioritizes standardization and compliance, we hope to be part of a broader movement that empowers each student by seeing our differences as assets.

Internally, we are being intentional about being better listeners by providing processing and learning spaces for our team. We are developing a plan to ensure that our efforts are sustained and ongoing over an extended period of time.  To minimize blind spots that we may have, we are committed to engaging outside consulting to support our efforts to be as inclusive as possible.  We are also networking with collaborators in mission-driven organizations to learn from their experiences.

We must listen to our learners and co-construct educational improvements that are community-driven and contextualized.  Together, we will continue to grow and learn in pursuit of our vision of a world in which every child achieves their potential.  We are open to feedback and support at any time.  We hope that you will join us on the journey.
