NEW HAVEN, CT —July 2020— Cold Spring School has announced a new partnership with Altitude Learning, a San Francisco-based education company that works with schools across the country to modernize their education models and prepare students for the future.
Starting this fall, Cold Spring School will leverage the Altitude Learning technology platform to support the flexible delivery of their progressive, whole-child learning model in the classroom and, should the need arise, in a blended or distance learning environment. Through virtual training sessions and remote coaching, the Altitude Learning team will introduce Cold Spring educators to the online platform’s suite of features and will provide ongoing support throughout the 2020-2021 school year and beyond. Cold Spring educators will primarily use the platform to co-design thematic, interdisciplinary learning experiences, holistically track students’ academic and social/emotional growth, and share updates and feedback with families. Additionally, the customizable platform, which was designed with learner-centered principles in mind, will give students multiple avenues for reflecting on and demonstrating their learning.
“When we began our search for a learning management system, we were looking not only for a stable operational solution but also for a mission-aligned partner,” reflected Joshua Sloat, Curriculum Specialist. “To educators, it’s perhaps more evident than ever that learning takes place anytime, anywhere, and Altitude Learning understands that students benefit from having that agency and ownership over their learning. Their platform facilitates focus on personalized learning and frames constructive feedback as an integral part of the learning journey, aspects that complement our school's commitment to creating joyful learning experiences that challenge students to become self-reliant problem-solvers.”
The Cold Spring community – including students, educators, and families – is already deeply engaged in and connected by a progressive vision of teaching and learning. The Altitude Learning platform will help Cold Spring to further strengthen that engagement and interconnectedness by making students’ learning visible in and outside of the classroom.
“We share Cold Spring’s dedication to learner agency, collaboration, and real-world problem solving,” said Devin Vodicka, Chief Impact Officer at Altitude Learning. “We are inspired by the work they are doing to help students build the holistic toolkit they need to navigate our rapidly changing world ethically and with creativity and empathy.”
